Saft AB, owned by TotalEnergies, is a world leader in research and development as well as the manufacturing of high-tech Ni-Cd batteries. The group has over 4,000    employees, 31 sales offices, and 16 manufacturing units around the world.

At Saft AB in Oskarshamn, approximately 450 employees work. In addition to the manufacturing unit, the group’s development department and parts of the Saft group’s global sales and marketing department are also located in Oskarshamn.

Our batteries are distinguished by their long lifespan (typically 20–25 years), their ability to withstand extreme temperatures, and long transport and storage periods. In short, we manufacture reliable and robust batteries!

Over the past year, Saft AB has embarked on a journey towards increased automation to become more competitive, but also to reduce repetitive tasks to improve ergonomics. We have developed a clear industrial vision that extends to the year 2040.

The vision is called “Vision 2040 – No Touch!” where the goal is to have a fully automated production by 2040.

We are currently offering four thesis projects in this area, all of which are an important part of our work towards Vision 2040 – No Touch!
